Job Description
We are an SME (Small Medium Enterprise) that are key suppliers to some truly global customers. We manufacture a range of components, from large fabrications to high volume machined parts, predominantly for the yellow goods, aerial platform and agricultural industries. We complete all processes in house, from plasma cutting, multi-axis CNC milling and turning, to fabrication and welding.
We are constantly striving to improve our processes and conditions so we can be our customers supplier of choice over the coming years.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior or Graduate Manufacturing Engineer to join and support our existing small team of engineers. Whilst improving, collecting data on and documenting manufacturing process, comprehensive training & support will be given to the right candidate with progression opportunities in mind.
Job Description
- Create, maintain, and audit standard operating procedures, set up information and technical instructions to clearly define the manufacturing process and controls for specific parts.
- Identifying and supporting process improvement projects across the business.
- Working with the existing engineering team to drive quality, cost and productivity improvements through process optimisation.
- Offering potential solutions to challenges presented by QC and/or management.
- Collecting, analysing, and presenting process data (timings, measurement, CpK etc.) to Engineering and Operational to allow good decision making when deciding upon process changes and/or improvements.
- Aiding in & completing process trials to test changes to existing, or new, manufacturing processes prior to implementation.
- Ensure all changes to manufacturing processes are managed in line with company procedures.
- Design and manufacture of fabrication, welding and CNC fixtures & work aids using CAD (Autodesk Fusion 360).
- Day to day support of Operations, Quality & Engineering personnel where process challenges arise.
The Person
Qualifications & skills:
- HNC / HND / Degree in Manufacturing Engineering
- Fully competent in Microsoft office suite, focus on Excel, Work and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and process control.
- Exposure to CAD software (desirable)
- Exposure to ERP systems (desirable)
- Exposure to Engineering drawings (desirable)
Key attributes:
- Enthusiastic about Engineering & Manufacturing processes, particularly with fabrication, welding, and CNC machining.
- Must be a self-starter and not be afraid to take a hands-on approach.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all employees, being a strong team player with a collaborative attitude.
Work Schedule
Hours per week: 40 hours
Working days / time per week: Monday – Thursday: 7:00 am – 16:30 pm, Friday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am.
Breaks per day: 15 minutes paid morning break, 30 minutes un-paid lunch break.
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
Salary: £25’000.00 - £30’000 p/annum DOE
Paid time off: 33 days per annum, inclusive of statutory days.
