Book Operations
A division of NielsenIQ and first established in 1858, Nielsen Book is a leading supplier of bibliographic data and market insights to booksellers, librarians and publishers in over 100 countries.
The Book Operations team supports the international Commercial teams, by monitoring, supporting and testing the systems used to supply our clients with data.
Job Purpose
The team is responsible for developing and maintaining a close and positive working relationship with publishers, distributors and other data providers, through appropriate liaison at all levels, to ensure Nielsen BookData receives timely information and meets all appropriate service level requirements. The team is also responsible for ensuring that our outgoing products fulfil client requirements and meet agreed delivery schedules. Internally the team works closely with the commercial team, the wider Book Operations team, and the Technical and Product Leadership teams.
Role Responsibilities
This role requires the successful individual to show competence across a range of skills and tasks, which will encompass the following:
Publisher Help:

Handling publisher enquiries through the Publisher Help Desk and advise on the most appropriate method of supplying information.

Setting up and registration of new users for our online publisher service portal.

Assisting users of online portal with how to register and maintain their product information and provide guidance on how it appears externally.

Using Cognos to run reports on publisher's data.

Supporting a territory through the chart mismatch process.

Supporting systems by following correct procedures following system failures or data errors. Responding promptly to queries from stakeholders and customers.

Supporting a key retailer through the cataloguing and validation of information and bespoke classification and distribution overrides.

Client support of BookData services BookData Online, Record Supply Service, API.
Other

To be available to cover the Pubhelp help desk between Monday-Friday 8am-5pm; to answer the phone and to respond to incoming emails within 1/2 business day.

Occasional weekend and evening work by arrangement.

Attend and contribute to regular team meetings.

To occasionally attend publisher meetings, open days, book fairs where appropriate, to support other areas of the business.

Carry out other duties as may be required from time to time by Team Manager.

May require reasonable travel to clients and other Nielsen offices.
Associate Attributes

Highly proficient general PC skills.
-
Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Excellent customer service skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

In-depth understanding of the publishing industry and book trade is desirable.

Database experience and a solid proficiency in data analysis and testing is desirable.
