Assistant Site Manager - UK Construction North Division
Role
We are recruiting for two Fitout Site Manager to join our UK North Construction Division on a scheme in the North West, this is a £50m residential scheme including 2 new towers with concrete frames and fixed facade as well as a conversion of an old mill into apartments. We are looking for three Assistant Site Manager's to support the team on each section of the scheme. You will be Responsible for managing front line construction, engineering and the delivery of all direct and indirect trade contractors - as defined by the scope of works package or within the Project Execution Plan (PEP)
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning of weekly and daily activities with the General Foreman / Site Manager
- Attend and chair (when necessary) daily co-ordination meetings & weekly sub-contractor progress meetings
- Understanding of the sub-contractors RAMs & ITP’s to ensure quality standards are achieved
- Active involvement in HSEQS management on our projects and challenge working practices on site and across our business to ensure continuous improvement in line with our Zero philosophy
- Monitor that the works are being carried out in accordance with the designer’s drawings, sketches and to the relevant specification
- Inspect sub-contractors work and sign it off when it is to an acceptable standard
- Complete a daily diary recording the daily progress, numbers of operatives, any safety issues/near misses, weather, identifying shortfalls with labour, plant & materials and any issues that have affected the day’s progress
- Have a clear understanding of the SOPs related to the project. (On the job training)
- Responsible for managing a number of supervisors and operatives
- Assess RAM’s and COSHH assessments and monitor that the works are carried out in accordance with them
- Make other trades aware of the above especially if there are any specific COSHH considerations
- Assist the site manager with site inductions
- Issue site permits e.g. excavation permits, hot works permits, roof permits etc.
- Check that tool box talks are being carried out by the sub-contractors and deliver tool box talks to Sisk operatives.
- Requisition/order materials in line with the programme
- Assist with the co-ordination of the site logistics
- Advise Gateman and security of deliveries
- Assist with the checking of information provided by the design team & sub-contractors and assist with the raising of RFI’s
- Assist with the co-ordination and distribution of materials to the various work fronts – agreeing laydown areas – making sub-contactor’s aware of hazards e.g. shallow drains, overhead cables and suspended slab weight restrictions
- Technically responsible for a section of the works and has responsibility for the management of a number of sub-contractor packages
- Stopping works that are not being carried out safely or to the correct standard and issue NCR’s for works that are not compliant
- Raise any site concerns to the site and commercial managers
- Manage waste removal and monitor that the waste materials are put into the appropriate waste skips
Experience & Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with colleagues, clients and third parties, in a warm and persuasive way both formally and informally and able to alter style and method to suit audience
- Proven track record of least ten years within a construction management environment with a similar National/Regional Contractor, with a strong track record of the high HSEQS standards
- Strong analytical skills
- Organised with good time management and capable of proactive planning
- Ability to get the best out of individuals, teams & trade contractors and build consensus where differences of opinion arise
- Ability to relate Company commercial strategy to own activities
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the trades required on site, the codes of practice relating to them and the requirements for them to be able to carry out required works
Qualifications & Training
- Working towards an academic and or a professional industry related qualification
- CSCS for Managers, SMSTS, CDM/PSCS Awareness, BBS, & S5 & Q10 internal workshops
- First Aid at work Certificate
- Lifting Supervisor
- Driving Licence
- Degree or Diploma in a Construction related subject
