The successful candidate will work as part of a team to Investigate the most serious cyber dependant crimes and threats within GMP, whilst also having the ability to work independently on their own investigations. The types of crime include different variants of Ransomware, DDoS attacks, Hacking and Crimes in Action. The successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to the development and delivery of pro-active cyber capabilities and bring their own expertise and ideas to this arena. They will be able to react dynamically to a situation and attend digital crime scenes to collect evidence in a relevant and lawful way. It will require attendance at warrants with colleagues, supporting the interview of suspects alongside other officers and providing advice to colleagues on digital investigative opportunities. Reviewing evidence in a robust and lawful way (including potentially upsetting material) to build case files for submission to CPS and ultimately attendance at Court to achieve successful prosecutions against cyber offenders. A typical day could involve any one or many of these things, so the ability to easily switch between tasks is highly beneficial.
