Food Manufacturing Maintenance Technician
We are growing rapidly and looking for an energetic, flexible person who has at least 2 years, preferably 5 yerars, experience as a maintenance technician in a food-processing (or similar ) environment. Generally two shifts - Sunday through Thursday 2am to 10:30am shift and Monday - Friday 2pm - 10:30pm with occasional Saturday work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic machinery and equipment like motors, pneumatic equipment, pumps, mixers, fillers sealers, grinders, conveyor systems and chillers.
· Perform preventative maintenance and emergerncy repairs to machinery and equipment.
· Apply troubleshooting skills to machinery and equipment
· Ability to read and interpret manuals on machinery and equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings on machinery and equipment.
· Ability to read and intrepet information on a work order.
· Ability to perform required maintenance and service on a work order.
· Excellent communication skills to keep business updated on status of your work
· Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment building positive and effective relationships with partners, peers and fellow management employees.
· Ability to plan, execute and drive projects to closure.
· Capabable of creating or adapting a new way of doing things with very short notice.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Works well independently and as a team.
· Strong “service” orientation, comfortable as the “go to” person.
· High energy, self-motivated, passionate toward the problem solving and troubleshooting.
· Willing and able to do any task that needs to be completed.
· Ability to effectively stop immediate non-critical work to service a line call.
· Assist in proper storage of incoming parts as well as keeping parts storage organized
· Follow the food safety and hygiene rules of the facility
· Possess an affinity for personnel safety.
· Other duties as required by Supervisor.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education And/Or Experience
· Education or technical training in a field related to maintenance and/or engineering through a recognized trade union, technical school or equivalent
· Minimum of 2 years experience or equilivant schooling as a maintenance technician in a food processing environment or similar GMP required business (clean room). 5 years prefered.
· Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance and building construction techniques.
· Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and predicitive maintenance preferred.
· Knowledge of food processing equipment including, but not limited to, boilers, water heaters, sanitary pumps, sanitary valves and packaging equipment
· Basic understanding of PLC systems (Rockwell Automation, Panelview)
· Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems and glycol systems
· Experience using shop tools, hand tools and power tools and measuring devices (Volt meters, Ohm meters, Amp meters)
· Sanitary TIG welding a plus
· Lazor alignment ability a plus
· Ability to read P&ID
· Basic knowledge of pitch, thread, size, and type of bolts and nuts
· Tap and die experience
· Ability to layout a pattern and fabricate it using appropriate building materials.
· Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and has a mechanical coursity.
· Experience with start-up or shutdown of manufacturing equipment.
· Powered lift equipment.
Language, Mathematical, and/or Reasoning Ability
· Arithmetic to calculate amounts of materials needed and to measure materials to be laid out, cut, shaped, threaded, joined, etc.
· Knowledge of local/state/federal codes to perform installation, maintenance, and/or repair work which will meet code requirements
· Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines regarding safety practices
· Punctuality
· Able to have a flexible work schedule
· Comfortable working in a wet and alternately warm and cold environments
· Gets along with others, follows directions well, is eager to help others and is capable of following safety rules.
· Demonstrate paiteince with others when explaining and showing how to do or operate things
· Can read and understand wiring diagrams (480-277-120-24V) and use them to troubleshoot equipment
· Can read and understand mechanical (equipment) and architectural (building) drawings
· Ability to troubleshoot failed equipment and report to supervisor
· Food and employee safety oriented
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl in tight spaces, and use a ladder. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Capacity to manipulate small parts and items accurately.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work environment is alternatively wet, dry, warm or cold. Comfortable working close to chemicals.
Can work around tree nuts.
Monday - Friday 2pm - 10:30pm
Occasional Saturday work.
Pay for this position will vary based upon experience and skills.
