We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Biomedical Scientist to work in the busy Clinical Biochemistry/Immunology Department of Blood Sciences.
The post holder would be expected to achieve HCPC registration within 12 months, dependent on previous experience, and the Department is committed to providing full training to support this. Following HCPC registration the post holder will transfer to A4C Band 5 scale. Upon commencement of full participation in our out of hours shift rotas the post holder will transition to the bottom of Band 6 salary. The salary is fixed for 3 years and progression on the scale is dependent on meeting set criteria linked to training and competence. Progression may be realised sooner than 3 years upon successful completion of IBMS Specialist Diploma.
The Clinical Biochemistry laboratory has full UKAS accreditation. The department is equipped with 2 x Siemens Atellica platforms (SCCI) connected to a Siemens Aptio automated tracking system which includes online centrifugation, capping and re-capping, sample aliquoting, refrigerated online sample storage and a tracked Themo Phadia 250.
Additionally, there is a MAST iOc sensor for FIT testing and 4 x Sebia Capillarys3 systems for analysis of HbA1c. The Department also comprises an Immunology section equipped with a Sebia CapillaryS CZE and Hydrsys2 scan for protein electrophoresis, 2 x Phadia 250's and IIF microscopy. The Southport site uses Roche Cobas 6000's and cITm middleware.
