We are seeking to recruit a Marketing and Events Coordinator to promote, sell and lead on the operation and delivery of a range of events for a new venue opening. The venue is a magnificent Grade II listed ex mortuary chapel lovingly restored as part of the Abney Park Restoration Project which also sees the introduction of a separately managed cafe and community space.
With an emphasis on external client management, you will be responsible for creating and implementing a marketing strategy with a clear focus on identifying suitable audiences for the space and the methodology to attract them as clients. We are looking for someone passionate about gaining new business, selling the venue and bringing high energy and innovation to secure new clientele and income streams. There will also be day-to-day admin responsibilities such as enquiry responses, taking payments, diary management, liaising with clients about their event details, supervising events in the venue, leading on site-visits and a particular focus on the safe operation during event hire periods, adhering to health and safety legislation and licensing and respect for the park and cemetery surroundings.
You will be joining the wonderful Hackney Venues team who currently manage a number of other venues in the borough and host a wide range of events within the private, community and cultural sectors. Shifts are on a rota basis with an emphasis on weekends and some evenings, so flexibility with working hours is essential.
You will have substantial and relevant experience in venue marketing, with an emphasis on rapport building and client engagement and be familiar with the planning and delivery of a range of events, health and safety requirements and have experience in team and people management.
Naturally, you will be required to maintain and improve excellent levels of service to clients/customers and have some experience of event based administration including diary systems, client databases and invoicing procedures.
This is a 4 out 7 days a week role and includes late night and evening work on a rota basis so flexibility with working hours is essential.
