Summary of the Electrical Engineering Apprentice role

About the apprenticeship
The Electrical Engineering apprenticeship will last 4 years and will include hands-on practical skills development. You will learn how to maintain, repair, and update the manufacturing plant and equipment, which will be used to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients for our customers.
This is a level 3 apprenticeship, and you will complete an NVQ, BTEC and HNC in your chosen engineering discipline.

No prior experience is required, all on-the-job training will be provided to help you develop and you will be paired with a mentor at Sterling who will help to train you.
Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you may be eligible to join our degree level apprenticeship programme.
Your responsibilities
- Complying with all EHS requirements including safety policies, training and procedures.
- Repairing, modifying and commissioning associated with the core Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance discipline in the production environment.
- Using Beamex, Meridian, SAP, Genesis, Toshiba software, hardware and testing equipment to perform compliance planned preventative maintenance.
- Carrying out work which is outside the core skill in line with agreements in force relating to multi-skilling.
- Accepting and handing back permit to works (PTWs).
- Carrying out work in compliance with cGMP standards.
- Requisitioning and collecting stores materials as required.
- Conducting inspections and carrying out preventative maintenance activity.
- Carrying out workshop operations as required.

Requirements for the role
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 in Maths, English, Science/and or Technology subject.
- Good level of Health and Safety awareness.
- Competent with IT systems.
- Able to work individually as well as part of a team.
- Have a mature approach to work.
- Takes responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work produced.
- Must be prepared to follow a course of study to gain a formal qualification.
