Job Description
Planet Neutral CIC have a summer placement opportunity for a renewable’s assistant to work flexibly for up to three months. (Rate of pay will be national minimum wage for age).
The role is varied and not a typical 9 to 5 role (onsite work may involve some weekends and evenings) where you will be responsible for helping to develop renewable energy projects around the UK. You will also assist in processing data for Greenhouse Gas reports and any other project that benefits the community in reducing carbon.
The placement will mainly involve attending renewable energy projects on site but may also involve working from home on a laptop and at the company office.
Working on site: you will provide assistance to Planet Neutral engineer(s) to help deliver the maintenance or upgrades that have been agreed or feasibility study that is being undertaken. At times you will be required to use hand tools and powered machinery in accordance with Health & Safety procedures, undertaking training as and when required. You must be able to work in outdoor, all weather conditions, in addition, you must be able to listen to instruction and act sensibly as tools and machinery are present. Accommodation, travel expenses and subsistence will be covered for all away work trips.
Working from home: you will need access to a mobile phone and laptop computer. You must be able to work independently and on your own initiative on a range of tasks after receiving training and guidance.
Being able to drive or owning a car is not necessary as we like to use and promote public transport, where this is not possible we can collect from train/bus station to suit.
An interest in renewables and greenhouse gas emissions/carbon impact is a must. Experience in these areas is not essential but a willingness to learn and a wish to pursue a career in this area would be desirable. Experience and/or knowledge of Solid Edge, the CAD software program and being proficient in word, excel and email would be advantageous but not essential. GCSE Maths & English essential.
You must be presentable, articulate and polite as there will be some work directly with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and partner companies.
