Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Sustainability Analyst to join the SZC Sustainability Assurance Team, which assures the delivery of environment, social and governance (ESG) ambitions across the project.
Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.
You’ll support the Sustainability Assurance Manager in the delivery of Sizewell C’s (SZC) environmental sustainability commitments and support the project more generally in pursuit of its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) ambitions.
This will also include supporting the development and maintenance of the arrangements to comply with these commitments and providing oversight, surveillance and monitoring of Sizewell C’s ESG activities
You’ll additionally engage and work with your colleagues in the Hinkley Point C project, to take on board the lessons learnt and apply the benefits to the replication at SZC.
You’ll have a background in analytics in a discipline such as environmental, science or something similar with an interest in environmental and/ or social topics.
Having previous experience of operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards (BS EN ISO14001:2004), including the development of procedures to meet the requirements of the EMS would be beneficial but is not essential.
Accuracy and attention to detail will be key, you must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/ interpersonal skills.
Ideally, you’ll be able to show an understanding of key sustainability issues, particularly social or environmental issues relevant to a project such as SZC.
