Vacancy Summary:
We are looking for 8 x Personal (Care) Assistants in the Burnley area. We have full-time and part-time hours available, days/waking nights which will be 12hr shifts. Hours and shift patterns will be discussed prior to interviews.
About me:
I am a young lady who wants to be as independent as possible. I get frustrated when others make decisions about my life without involving me or when I am not listened to. I had a spinal cord injury at the age of 5 and was supported only by my mum for a significant period of time, until I wanted to attend college. My mum is the most important person in my life and I need her to be involved in my life on a daily basis.
I have friends that live away whom I like to meet up with on a regular basis. Ideally, I would like to be out and about each day and I enjoy lots of activities like shopping, going to bingo, spotting Eddie Stobart vehicles and attending concerts and events such as Blackpool Pride. I’m also a Burnley and Sunderland fan and a big Disney fan, my favourite is Mickey Mouse and I love Harry Potter. I would like to return to studying at college in the near future and also start going on holidays again.
What support I need:
I want a good support team around me, who will enable me to complete everyday activities and tasks, taking the lead from me and most importantly listening to me and trying to understand my point of view. My full team needs to be in place to enable me to return home.
You will support me socially in the community, emotionally by making me feel respected and safe and physically with my care needs.
About you and our requirements:
You must be committed to our clients’ needs and have compassion and a desire to support in a dignified and respectful manner.
Our client requires a lot of support and you will be expected to complete comprehensive training to support this. It would be beneficial if you have previous experience of supporting clients in a care role, but you will be fully supported and trained to meet our clients’ needs so this is not essential.
You will need to complete the following training:
Spinal Injuries
Personal care
Infection control
Induction
Safeguarding
Autonomic Dysreflexia
Medication Administering
Suppositories
Manual Evac
Suprapubic catheter and bladder washouts
