We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF) at the Pandemic Scient Institute, University of Oxford.
The Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF) at the University of Oxford produces high-quality Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) according to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to support early-phase clinical trials in the UK and worldwide. We manufactured the first doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 for the UK trials and vaccines for Malaria, TB, Zika, Rabies, Plague, Ebola and other diseases that have a global impact.
You will be responsible for performing specific duties in the regulated cleanrooms, to support the team of production scientists. You will ensure that servicing and calibration documentation is correct, updated and maintained accordingly. You will also assist in the training of other staff members and advise colleagues on the use of equipment in accordance with health and safety instructions. You will assist in the preparation, maintenance, cleaning and operation of the cleanrooms and ensure there are adequate stocks of consumable items available at the point of use. Other tasks will include environmental monitoring, cell culture, and buffer preparation. You will also contribute to the maintenance, update and review of controlled documents within the Quality Management System (QMS) including Standard Operating Procedures, Production Batch Records and Forms. You will be assisting with other QMS-related activities such as Change Controls and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) whilst liaising closely with the Quality Assurance team.
It is essential that you are educated to A-levels in Science or equivalent qualification, together with previous laboratory experience. You will have the ability to work with a high level of accuracy and with attention to detail, and have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and written. Being able to interact productively with other team members and external suppliers and to identify and proactively report error and non-compliance to senior staff is also essential.
